4 months

Jack had his 4 month birthday on Monday! Here are some of his latest stats and things he's doing these days.
-rolls from front to back & now back to front! I love when he rolls onto his belly b/c it gives me plenty of opportunities to pinch that cute hiny!
-loves to watch us eat...he sticks his tongue out & smacks his lips when we do
-is trying rice cereal...seems to like it but doesn't quite have that swallowing thing down yet
-is very generous with his smiles...he's got one for anyone that wants one
-is all business in the bathtub...he will not smile...he's too busy figuring out the water I think
-we think he's an introvert. he's TIRED after being around a lot of people
-he's a little jumpy & loud noises frighten him and sometimes make him cry. I guess he's just sensitive like his mama.
-he weighs 16 lbs. 4 oz! I call it the jackson phenomenon b/c he doesn't look big to me at all, but he sure is solid

We sure do love our little man!

meeting my furry friends

I realized Jackson had never met the furry friends that live in his room, so he invited them all over for a party at his crib so they could get to know each other.

These guys are so lame, mom, can we do something else?
Now that's what I'm talking about...I'm invisible now!

uh-oh

Football season is here. And this is what my boys are doing. I have to say something multiple times to get Ben to answer me when he's watching a game and I think our Bonk Bonk is going to be the same way. Oh boy.
On Saturday Ben and a friend were watching the Michigan/Notre Dame game and a fire truck pulls into our neighbor's driveway. I, of course, say we need to go make sure everything's ok...he said "there's a minute left in the game, let's wait!" Yes, it was a good game but a minute in football time is plenty of time for a house to burn down. Luckily the neighbors were fine...the fire truck was just looking for a brush fire because they saw smoke & were using the neighbors driveway for a better view. Good thing!

rabbi jack

Our friends the Josephs' have been so generous to lend us their boys old clothes, but this is one thing I don't think will make it to the winter since it's about to cut off his head circulation now. Too bad b/c it is super cute. I laughed for at least 10 minutes. He makes a cute little rabbi doesn't he?

some funny ones

Almost all of our pictures of Jack are taken with Ben's Iphone because it is always with us & takes fairly decent pictures. So I apologize for the quality of these pictures, but they are cute even so!

I thought this one was so funny because he looks like such a little man. He had leaked onto his pj's and so we had morning playtime without his clothes on & he got so tired that I didn't want to put clothes back on him. Those are also hospital blankets in his crib b/c I didn't feel like changing his wet sheet--it's quite the ordeal to change a crib sheet.

Jack loves his fingers and sucks on them after every meal...its like his dessert!

I love his smile in this picture so I had to share it. We sent this to Ben's grandmother's husband who was very sick in the hospital. We just returned a couple of days ago from the funeral. This sweet smile ministered to a lot of people at the funeral, especially Ben's grandmother. Oh and he is wearing a cute Christmas onesie b/c he will be too big for all Christmas stuff I had for him unfortunately. He's a large child and in 6 month clothes already.

Jack loves to stand up so his Aunt Mickie bought him this doorway bouncy but I think we have to wait a couple of months before he actually uses it. I love his expression, "what are y'all doing to me?".

And this is one of my favorite faces of our Bonk Bonk even though it is always followed by a cry. I can't help but laugh at it because it is so darn cute. This was taken a month or so ago when we went to visit grandparents and cousins in Darlington.

catching up

i have a new goal to blog more often & since i haven't blogged in a while, there is plenty to catch up on...so my goal this week is to post every other day. so we will start with a family picture...this was taken about a month ago at our staff fellowship time.

and this is a picture of our area...the staff at PC and Furman...a pretty good-looking bunch if i do say so myself. all the staff stayed in one huge house for the week. it was so fun and great for our team to feel more connected since we definitely added to our number this year!

more to come in 2 days!

I'm 9 weeks old today!

I’m 9 weeks old today…seems like just yesterday I was cramped up in mama’s belly. Here are some fun facts about me…
-I love to stretch!
-The nicknames my mom and dad call me are…booger, bonky, jack-boy, and scoob
-I’m a great sleeper, I just don’t like to sleep for long stretches at night…mom says I should seriously consider it
-I’m a very emotional eater…I want my food and I want it fast…I get mad when I have to stop eating to burp
-Mom and Dad tell me that I make a lot of noise…I like to grunt & coo…if I’m awake I’m making some noise
-My best friend is that smiley star on my baby Einstein gym…he’s so great…always got a smile on his face…I’ve never seen him frown!
-I also like the bumbo seat…it helps me to go number 2 so mom & dad call it my toilet
-I love to smile at my parents…they make such silly faces
-I love my carseat but only when it’s moving…that’s what a carseat’s for, right?
-I tee tee on my own face at least every other day…I like to see my parents’ reaction when I do!
-I went to the doctor today and I weigh 13 lbs, am 23 ¾ inches long, and I can’t remember how big my head was, but dr. w says I’m in the 75th percentile across the board—I like to be proportional!

A note from mom…
Jackson is growing up so fast! I get emotional sometimes just looking at him b/c he is changing and growing so fast & won’t be a little baby forever. It’s been a tough couple of months but things are starting to level out a little more now! He was such a big boy for his shots today…he didn’t cry for very long. We usually can’t get him to take a paci, but today he sucked the heck out of that thing all the way home from the doc—guess he was hurting a little!

We head back to the beach for return training on Tuesday. We are looking forward to reconnecting with everyone and spending time with PC and Furman students and helping them prepare for this next year on campus!

"give me some privacy, will ya?!"

i told you this was his best friend.

but he still saves plenty of smiles for mom and dad!
