Update

We have returned safely from our week at the Joint Winter Conference. Around 350 students came from the 4 campuses that Campus Outreach Johannesburg is ministering to. It was a great experience…many students came to know Christ for the first time & many more were spurred on to continue to grow in their faith. It was also a great time because we (our team) got to connect with many of the students from Pretoria that we will be ministering with and to. We feel very connected already which is such a blessing & will be very helpful for when we start ministry on the campus in a couple of weeks when they return from winter break. We were very proud of our students as they ran hard and really ministered to the South African students around them. Thanks for your prayers!

more pics

This is our mode of transportation for the summer. They have been great. People drive really crazy here though so it can get scary at times!

We're Here!

Hello from South Africa! We made it here safely & have had a great first week getting to know the staff & student leaders here as well as the campus & the city of Pretoria. We are getting adjusted to some of the differences (driving on the wrong side of the road on the wrong side of the car, the way people drive here, not saying the wrong things—napkin here means diaper so that can get confusing at a restaurant, and South Africa is having an energy shortage so a lot of mornings the power just cuts off!). It is great to have to suffer in small ways though as we are used to getting everything we want when we want it in America so its good for our team!
We will be gone all next week to the Joint Winter Conference (it’s winter here). It is much like our New Year’s Conference in Atlanta. We will be there mainly to serve but also to get to know a lot of the students we will be spending time with when they return from their winter break. We are looking forward to it! Thanks for your prayers…enjoy the pictures!

The plane ride is half the fun!!!

These are a couple of pictures of the guesthouse we will be staying at all summer.

This is Gabby the guardog. He has a son named Chubby & they make us feel safer here. We think they look like bear’s in the face!

This is just a short video we did to introduce our team to the Leadership Project. Thought you all would like to see it and meet the team as well.

Myrtle Beach

Here are a couple of pictures from our time in Myrtle Beach this week. We've enjoyed our week here so far but are already tired of the heat & humidity! Why thousands of people flock here every summer I will never quite understand! I will write again before we head for South Africa!

This picture is from "move-in day". It's the day that the younger students move into the motel, so the leaders go all out & dress kind of weird...hence the wife-beaters & bermuda shorts!

Here's a picture of me with some of the PC girls here this summer!

We have about 20 PC students that will be in Myrtle Beach this summer at the Leadership Project. We are so excited about what God is going to do in their lives even though we won't be here!

It's finally here...

In just a few days (Sunday to be exact) we will be loading up our 2 15 passenger vans and heading to Myrtle Beach with our South Africa team. We will spend a few days helping set up our Leadership Project as well as do some pre-training for our trip to South Africa. Then we will fly out of Myrtle next Saturday & be on our way to Africa!
Please pray for safety in travel as well as good connection time as a team this next week. We will update again before we leave the country.
